About Us

History:

Settling of Marathi people in Saskatchewan started way back in1960s. However in those days there were only a handful of Marathi families. Over the years more and more families arrived.

The first decade of 2000 saw an influx of Marathi people but the numbers really increased since the middle of the second decade. At this time, the community members thought that there is enough Marathi population to organize events to celebrate Marathi festivals together.

Around 2019,  a group of members came together as an informal group to organize events such as Diwali, New Year etc. In 2023 it was decided to register formally as a non-profit association with the provincial government. So, in July 2023, Marathi Cultural Association of Saskatchewan was formed.

Today, the association has close to 100 registered members and hold several events annually.
